American Airlines said that it will give 100,000 frequent flier AAdvantage miles to the first baby to be born in the United States on May 1, 2025.

The airline said that this unique gesture is to celebrate World Frequent Flier Day, which falls on May 1, 2025. The date also marks the 44th year American Airlines customers have been able to earn and redeem miles in the world’s first frequent flyer program tobe launched by a mainline carrier.

To enter, parents with a baby born on May 1, 2025, within the United States are invited to post photos on X along with the exact time of birth and the time zone, and tag @AmericanAir in the post with the hashtags #AAdvantage, #FrequentFlyerDay and #promotion to be entered in the promotion. No ticket purchase is necessary to be considered. 

Upon verification, the winning baby will enjoy 100,000 AAdvantage miles, which will be added to their new AAdvantage member account.

Parents and legal guardians can enroll their children in AAdvantage through the airline’s website. This allows them to start earning miles on family vacations, redeemable for future travel. 

“Before even taking their first step, the first baby born on Frequent Flyer Day is ready to travel the world with the gift of 100,000 AAdvantage® miles,” said Scott Long, American’s Senior Vice President of AAdvantage.

“We are excited to expand our AAdvantage family with the addition of this little one into our program as we celebrate the millions of members making a lifetime of family memories with American across the world,” Long added.
