Lessor Avolon will purchase 11 Airbus A321neo aircraft ordered by Frontier Airlines, after its parent company Bohai Leasing approved the acquisition.

On July 2, 2026, Bohai Leasing said that the move came as the company looks to “strengthen its order aircraft reserves and enhance the competitiveness” of the company

According to ch-aviation, Frontier Airlines is currently awaiting delivery of 142 Airbus A321neos.

One of the airline’s largest recent orders was in July 2021 where the US carrier placed an order for 91 additional A321neo aircraft from Airbus.

According to a financial statement on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, Bohai Leasing’s board of nine directors convened on June 30, 2026, where they all backed buying the 11 A321neos.

The agreement was signed between Bohai Leasing and Frontier Airlines on June 30, 2026.

The financial statement said the aircraft are valued at approximately $1.425 billion, based on the Airbus 2018 catalogue price. However, the final cost could change.

The 11 A321neo aircraft are expected to be delivered progressively between November 2026 and June 2027.

A translation of the Bohai Leasing’s financial statement said: “The transaction is undertaken to meet the Company’s business development needs. It will enable the Company to capitalize on the strong demand in the aircraft leasing market, enhance its ability to provide airline customers with diversified fleet solutions, and further strengthen its market share and competitiveness in the global aircraft leasing industry.”
