Embraer has announced the signing of a memorandum of agreement with Polish aerospace maintenance company WZL-2 to develop industrial cooperation tied to the KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft.

The signing took place at Embraer’s facilities on June 25, 2026, with representatives present from both companies and Poland’s state defense group Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, of which WZL-2 is a key member.

What the agreement covers

Under the memorandum, Embraer and WZL-2 will work together to build a framework for future collaboration across services, support, aircraft completion and conversion, external painting, and system integration.

The partnership is aimed at developing maintenance and industrial capabilities in Poland to support KC-390 operations, while also contributing to job creation, skills development, and technology transfer.

According to Jakub Gazda, President of the Management Board at WZL-2, the goal is to strengthen Poland’s aerospace and defense sector.

“We believe that combining Embraer’s experience with WZL-2 capabilities will bring tangible benefits for the Polish Armed Forces and the entire Polish defense industry,” Gazda said.

For Douglas Lobo, Vice President of Customer Support and Aftermarket Sales at Embraer Services & Support, the partnership reflects the company’s approach to building local industrial ecosystems.

“This collaboration will form the foundation of a long-term industrial ecosystem, ensuring high levels of availability, reliability, and sovereign support capabilities in Poland,” Lobo said.

A growing customer base

The KC-390 Millennium is Embraer’s multi-mission military transport aircraft, capable of carrying up to 26 tonnes of payload at speeds of 470 knots. It can perform cargo and troop transport, airdrops, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, and humanitarian missions, including operations from unpaved runways. With quick-installation equipment, it is also capable of serving as an aerial refueling tanker or receiver.

Beyond Brazil, the aircraft has been selected by the air forces of Portugal, Hungary, South Korea, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Slovakia, and Lithuania.

WZL-2 is one of Poland’s largest aviation companies, with 80 years of experience in maintaining, servicing and modernizing military aircraft. It currently supports platforms including the C-130 Hercules and F-16 for the Polish Armed Forces and international customers.
