Emirates will leverage GE Aerospace knowledge and expertise to advance its Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 engine repair capabilities in Dubai, UAE.

On May 14, 2026, Emirates announced a deal had been struck with GE Aerospace to provide technical and training support to develop piece part component repair capabilities for GE90 and GP 7200 engines.

GE Aerospace’s GE90 engine powers Emirates Boeing 777 jets while Engine Alliance’s GP7200 is used by the bulk of the airline’s Airbus A380.

Emirates said the collaboration will help the expansion of the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre (EEMC), a $300 million investment to scale up infrastructure and capabilities to maintain, repair and overhaul engines in Emirates’ fleet of aircraft.

GE Aerospace will provide technical consultancy to Emirates in setting up the piece part component repair line, as well as in knowledge transfer to the EEMC team for best practices and benchmarks in component repair.

“We are delighted to take a strategic step in upscaling our engine repair capabilities by investing in infrastructure and partnering with GE Aerospace to support our vision for world-class engine repairs and maintenance,” said Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ Deputy President and CCO.

He added: “The agreement with GE Aerospace will be pivotal to provide our workforce with the specialized skills needed for piece part component repair for the GE90 and GP 7200 engines that power our Boeing 777 and a part of our Airbus A380 fleet.”

Emirates said that combined with the expansion of the Engine Maintenance Centre in Dubai, Emirates Engineering will be positioned as a “center of excellence for engine repairs providing efficient and seamless engine serviceability”.

“Emirates is a valued customer and an important partner. GE Aerospace is proud to support Emirates as it expands its engine repair capabilities and further strengthens the long-term capability of UAE’s aviation ecosystem. This agreement reflects GE Aerospace’s commitment to support our customers in-service fleets for the entirety of their life cycle,” said Mohamed Ali, President and CEO, Commercial Engines & Services, GE Aerospace.

Rolls-Royce’s RR Trent 900 is also used by Emirates to power some of its Airbus A380s. In November 2025, the two partners signed an agreement paving the way for Emirates to perform maintenance, repair and overhaul on their own Trent 900 engines.

Emirates will build a new facility with the first engine induction forecast from 2027. Emirates will complete fan case repairs at the facility and Rolls-Royce will maintain module repair capability within the global network.
