India’s newest airline, Fly91, started operations on March 18, 2024, with a flight from Manohar International Airport in Goa (GOX) to Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), Bengaluru.  

The carrier then went on to operate another flight between Bengaluru and Sindhudurg (SDW), in the state of Maharashtra. 

The startup regional carrier, which takes its name from India’s international telephone code “91”, operates a fleet of two ATR 72-600 76-seat turboprop aircraft. Four more aircraft of this type are expected to arrive in the coming months. 

Fly91’s business model is to connect Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India. With this aim, the new carrier is participating in the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-UDAN, a program run by the Indian government to support the establishment of regional scheduled air services at underserved airports throughout the country. 

For the time being, Fly91’s network is limited to the aforementioned three cities plus Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad (HYD). Agatti (AGX), in the Lakshadweep Islands, as well as Jalgaon (ICAO: VAJL) and Pune (PNQ) have already been selected to receive the service soon.
