LATAM Airlines has confirmed it will pass the 400 aircraft mark in 2026.
On March 12, 2026, the Latin American carrier provided an update on its fleet growth plans for the next two years.
If in 2025, LATAM received 26 new aircraft, bringing the total to 371 by the year end. Fleet growth will accelerate in 2026 with the arrival of 41 new aircraft.
The airline is projected to close 2026 with 410 aircraft in its fleet, which would place it among the 12 largest carriers in the world by number of aircraft, neck and neck with Turkish Airlines.
Topping this ranking are five US carriers, three major Chinese airlines, and two low-cost giants, Ryanair in Europe and IndiGo in India.
Among the 2026 deliveries will be the first Embraer E195 from LATAM’s order for 74 of the type (24 of which are firm orders and the remaining 50, options), placed in September 2025.
In a recent Executive Spotlight with AeroTime, LATAM’s CEO, Roberto Alvo, highlighted this aircraft’s strategic importance for the future growth of the airline.
The E195, stated the airline executive, will open up regional routes that have remained largely untapped.
Another new aircraft type which LATAM is also expecting to get soon is the Airbus A321XLR, which promises to do for international markets what the E195 is expected to do on the regional ones: extending the airline’s presence into markets it could not previously serve efficiently.
The first A321XLRs are slated to arrive in 2027, a year in which LATAM’s fleet growth will continue with the addition of another 27 aircraft.
