An S7 Airlines Boeing 737-800 freighter overran the runway while landing in Norilsk, Russia, marking the airline’s second 737 runway overrun in less than six weeks.
The cargo aircraft was arriving at Norilsk Alykel Airport (NSK) from Moscow Domodedovo Airport (DME) on August 8, 2026, when it went off the end of the runway after landing, according to Russia’s West Siberian Transport Prosecutor’s Office.
Two crew members were on board along with cargo. No injuries were reported. The aircraft suffered minor damage.
Photos from the scene show the green S7 freighter sitting on paved concrete beyond the runway end lights.
Russian authorities have opened investigations into the incident. The Novosibirsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office said it is examining whether the airline complied with aviation safety requirements, while investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the overrun.
The incident comes less than six weeks after another S7 Boeing 737-800 overran a runway while landing at Mirny Airport (MJZ) in Russia’s Sakha Republic.
That aircraft, registration RA-73359, was operating as S7 Flight 5241 from Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport (OVB) to Mirny on June 30 when it traveled beyond Runway 25 after landing.
That 737 was carrying 173 passengers and six crew members. No injuries were reported.
Images from Mirny showed the aircraft resting on muddy ground beyond the paved runway with its landing gear still extended.
Russian transport prosecutors also opened an investigation following that incident.
There is no indication that the two runway overruns are related.
S7 operates passenger Boeing 737-800s as well as a small fleet of 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters used for cargo operations.
The airline introduced the 737-800BCF into its cargo operation in 2021, becoming the first Russian operator of the type.
