United Airlines and JetBlue have been given the go-ahead to proceed with their Blue Sky partnership by the Department of Transportation (DOT).

On July 29, 2025, the two airlines jointly announced that a review by the Trump Administration had been completed.

United and JetBlue said in a statement that they “appreciate” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Assistant Secretary Daniel Edwards and the rest of the team at DOT for the review.

The partner airlines said that they will “share more details in the coming weeks as implementation of the Blue Sky collaboration begins”.

Spirit Airlines previously voiced concerns about the deal between JetBlue and United when it was unveiled in May 2025.

Both United and JetBlue are linking their respective loyalty programs under Blue Sky, with United’s MileagePlus customers able to earn and use miles on most JetBlue flights.

JetBlue’s TrueBlue members will be able to earn and use points for flights on United’s extensive domestic and international network.

Through an interline agreement each airline will offer flights on one another’s website and apps and share the benefits of each airline’s loyalty program such as priority boarding.

On the operational front, the two airlines will exchange slots at their respective hubs. JetBlue will provide slots for up to seven United Airlines round-trip flights at New York-JFK International Airport (JFK).

United Airlines will do the same with eight slots at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
