Wizz Air is one of the key players in the European airline landscape. From its stronghold in the Central and Eastern European region, it has expanded its geographical footprint, both westwards to locations such as the UK and Italy, and eastwards with a significant and growing presence in the Middle East.

The Budapest-based airline also enjoys a reputation for ruthless efficiency, whether this entails keeping costs (and emissions per passenger-seat-mile) very low or finding fresh ways to monetize its traffic with new products and services.

On the sidelines of the South East Europe Aviation Summit (SEAS), which gathered major aviation industry players from the Balkan region in Belgrade, April 22-23, 2024, AeroTime caught up with Wizz Air’s Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Silvia Mosquera, and asked her a few questions about the airline’s current and future projects.

Here is what Mosquera told us about Wizz Air’s short term growth prospects, its plans for its Abu Dhabi base and the performance of the new subscription service, which – after its launch in Poland and Albania – is being expanded to Italy, the UK and other European markets [Ed. Note, Wizz Air has received two more aircraft between the time this interview was filmed and its date of publication].
