LATAM, pax up by 1.9% in December 2016

LATAM Airlines Group (LATAM) and its subsidiaries reported its preliminary monthly traffic statistics for December 2016. System passenger traffic increased by 1.9% while capacity increased by 0.6% year over year.

As a result, the company’s load factor for the month increased 1.1 points to 83.6%. At the same time, international passenger traffic accounted for approximately 56% of the month’s total passenger traffic.

On the 28th of December 2016 LATAM Airlines Group (LATAM), an airline group in Latin America, and Qatar Airways announced that Qatar Airways, through its wholly owned subsidiary Qatar Airways Investments (Qatar), completed its acquisition of 10% of LATAM reaching a total of 60,837,452 shares.

LATAM group includes LAN Airlines and its affiliates in Peru, Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador, and LAN Cargo and its affiliates, as well as TAM and its subsidiaries TAM Linhas Aereas, including its business units TAM Transportes Aereos del Mercosur (TAM Airlines Paraguay) and Multiplus.

The group now serves flight to around 138 destinations in 25 countries and cargo services to about 140 destinations in 29 countries. LATAM operates a fleet of 355 aircraft.
