After over a decade of development and testing, the first owner of the Bombardier Global 8000 has received their aircraft signaling the entry into service of the fastest civil aircraft since Concorde.
On December 8, 2025, Canadian entrepreneur and longtime Bombardier customer Patrick Dovigi took ownership of his brand-new private jet at special event at the Aircraft Assembly Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.
With a top speed of Mach 0.95 the Bombardier Global 8000 is the fastest business jet operating, overtaking the Gulfstream G700 and Cessna Citation X+ which have top speeds of Mach 0.935.
Significantly, the Global 8000 is the fastest non-military aircraft since Concorde, which could travel at Mach 2.04 and was retired in 2003.

In November 2025, the Global 8000 gained Type Certification from Transport Canada. Certification by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is pending.

A new edition of GE Aerospace’s Passport engine, designed to power the Bombardier Global 8000, was certified by the FAA and Transport Canada in August 2025.
While in May 2025, the first production Bombardier Global 8000 private jet successfully completed its first flight.
In 2023, Bombardier’s Global 8000 Flight Test Vehicle (FTV) became the first business jet to break the sound barrier during testing, and in 2022 the new aircraft was introduced to the world at EBACE in Geneva.
What will happen to the first Global 8000?
On December 8, 2025, private jet operator Chartright Air Group confirmed it would take operational custody of the first Bombardier Global 8000.
With the delivery of the Global 8000, Chartright now becomes the first operator in the world to welcome Bombardier’s newest flagship jet.
