SAS Scandanavian Airlines saw more than 1,000 people sign up to its “Destination Unknown” initiative within minutes of opening bookings to its EuroBonus members. Members were invited to sign-up from February 12, 2024, at 12:00 Central European Time.
The Scandinavian airline announced the launch of the marketing action on December 2023, which sees the carrier offering a limited number of those that sign up the chance to secure a return ticket on a flight to a mystery location. The destination will not be revealed until the last moment, when those admitted to the program meet at Copenhagen Airport (CPH) on April 5, 2024, to board the flight.
The trip will span three days between April 5-8, 2024, and will involve what the airline has described as “a unique adventure curated by SAS”. No further details have been provided.
From the wording of the announcement, it appears that this is not a give-away, but instead the tickets are to be booked through the EuroBonus program. SAS has set aside a whole aircraft for this purpose.
All tickets for the mystery flight will automatically be part of SAS’ sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) program, which was introduced in 2023. These tickets include approximately 50% of biofuel in order to lower the CO₂ emission of their SAS flight.
